Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My beautiful second graders live in a diverse community and are beginning to understand the real world around them. They live in a high-poverty, high-traffic neighborhood with the school setting being their own little world. For this reason, I try to create a warm and welcoming classroom environment where they feel safe and receive regular doses of knowledge and encouragement.
The remedial decodable books and sight word materials are highly needed in my classroom for students who are delayed with their reading.
Rather than depending on technology, hands-on materials encourage my students to practice and develop their blending skills. Students will look at the letters, blend the sounds, and read! Plus, the colorful illustrations add clues to help the readers succeed. All of these leveled materials are needed to help select students to progress to the next level.
