Help me give my students a collection of books about diversity, celebrations, and holidays around the world including Lunar New Year.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This project is inspired by the Lunar New Year holiday, celebrated in China and other Asian countries! The objective is to teach and expose my students to this popular holiday and others, outside of what they already know. My classroom is very diverse, with student roots representing various countries. For this reason, I have selected books that tell stories about different holidays, foods, and inspirational people.

I want to honor the beautiful diversity in our classroom and world by teaching my students about different foods, and holidays.

The selected items would be great resources for the students to read and enjoy. Hopefully, they'll understand that various cultures add delicious foods, vocabulary, customs, and vibrant color to an otherwise black and white world. I want students to know that people are very different, but simultaneously - the same.

With this project for books, a shelf, and other materials (including batteries for our drones), the hope is that my students will learn to celebrate their own individual and unique differences, while also appreciating the differences they see in others too.
