This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in a low-income, high-poverty area in Florida. It is a Title I school, meaning more than ninety-five percent of the student body comes from a low socioeconomic background.

The students receive free or reduced-price lunch and often are recent immigrants from other countries.

The students at my school are inquisitive, creative, and compassionate. They come to school each day ready to try new things and grow both academically and personally. The method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly. We do our very best to incorporate a variety of different learning strategies and learning options to ensure that each of the student's needs is​ being met.

My Project

My students would like to self-fund their projects without asking for help from their parents or the school. Supplies such as an espresso machine, coffee pods, and mugs allow my students to have real, hands on experiences dealing in costumer service, money management and job skills.

Individually we are a drop but together, we are an ocean.

Using these activities students maintain, sell and manage money from the sales of the products at school in the morning to teachers and parents for less than the chain coffee stores. The students will use then be able to use the profits after they have figured out expenses to fund their own activities and/or field trips.
