Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Behold the wonderful library — a place of learning, creation, and comfort. Whether it’s the place where you eat lunch, meet your friends, read, check-out books or write, it’s no doubt the library plays a crucial role in students’ everyday lives. It is for this reason why I feel the students at my school deserve a library with an atmosphere that is not only comfortable but also inspiring.

The awesome students at my school are book lovers, who love to spend time in the library.

I am hoping to provide them with the modern updates needed to make their daily visits that much more enjoyable. My students range from grade PreK-sixth. Each class has a scheduled time that they visit the library as a whole group, and they can also visit the library individually as needed. The students are often found inside the library searching for the perfect book and utilizing the library's other fine resources. It is my desire to create a library space where they will not only love to visit, but also continue or even heighten their love of reading and increase their reading scores academically.

My Project

Students will be able to come to the library and learn about information seeking skills and reading, while being in a comfortable environment. Statistics show that you learn better when you feel safe and comfortable. These new activity table upgrades to our library will ensure that students will be excited and eager to learn because they will definitely be in a comfortable environment that is conducive to learning. They will enjoy their time as we discuss new authors and various children’s books on a daily basis. So much learning was lost during the pandemic and providing them this wonderful upgrade will be a breath of fresh air along with a sense on school pride and gratitude because the library hasn’t been upgraded in over a decade. Any help will be appreciated.
