Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I always tell my students that we are a family and our classroom is our second home. I focus a lot on classroom rapport, building trust, and meaningful relationships.

I can't change my students' home lives, but I can help them have a great experience when they come to school.

I want to create a safe space and learning environment that is also fun. I want my students to wake up in the morning and be excited to come to school. I want my students to feel the magical feeling people feel at Disneyland when they walk through the classroom door.

I have a Disney themed classroom. Posters would be decor in my room to help with the theme. The doorbell would be used to help get students' attention/transitions. I also would use the answer buzzers for reviews before tests and to help students collaborate and work in teams. The stickers and pencils would be used as rewards. Slap bracelets would serve as magic bands for students to "scan in" for attendance.

The galaxy star lights would be used to light up our whole classroom. Each light would be placed in a section of our class so everyone could experience the fun. It could be used in the calm down corner, so students can relax. It can serve as a positive incentive to earn a class party under the stars. We could even have them on while working to create an out of this world experience and atmosphere.

The Bluetooth speaker would be helpful for us when we have performances. There have been several instances where technology wasn't on our side and a portable speaker would have helped. We could take practice outdoors. I could also use it to elevate our learning in the classroom to play relaxing brain music.
