Help me give my students the opportunity to build connections to the scientific world around them and develop their confidence and love for reading with novels and biographies with a science theme.
My students are full of energy and movement. They aren't afraid to get messy and really jump into what we are learning in the science classroom. Many of them enjoy moving around the classroom and learning by thinking and doing.
My mission is to create a generation of "thinkers and doers." In order to do that, I need your help to make our learning environment a more fun and collaborative place for my students.
Students learn best when they are in an environment that fosters learning.
My Project
For this project I’m asking for ancillary science texts, why? Because reading is really important. By reading we obtain new vocabulary and develop connections to the world around us. The chosen literature will provide an engaging way for students to self select a topic of their choice and dig deeper into the world of reading.
Students will learn about some of the women who have made an impact in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
By using these biographies and related activities you are providing me with an opportunity to educate students about the ingenuity and contributions of women, and encourage an interest in STEM careers.
Students will read about women inventors, scientists, nurses, doctors, medical researchers, pilots, and astronauts who advanced their respective fields. Many of these women broke through barriers of gender and race in pursuit of their dreams, goals, and interests.
