Every morning my students enter the classroom excited and happy to learn.
From the first moments when they peer through the window to see who's already in the classroom, they start the morning looking forward to the day's new challenges.
As a classroom in a low-income school in an urban area of Northern California, new books mean new opportunities for my students and new opportunities mean happier kids!
My students are 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders with deficits in language, academics, and socialization. However, they love interacting with their friends and engaging with the world around them. As emerging young adults, they thrive on testing the waters of independence, especially when it comes to reading!

Everyday, they look forward to their independent reading time, this time fosters independence, curiosity and imaginations.
A larger assortment of read along books with CD's will allow my students to pick from a variety of topics that are specific to their interests. This is especially important in a classroom like mine, when it can sometimes be a challenge to keep my students engaged. Their love for reading is something they ALL can share in. So, not only does this give them the opportunity to read independently, but then afterwards provides them with something exciting and new to talk about with each other!
