Ms. Goldstein from Washington DC is requesting books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need 4 collections of high interest books! The best way for low level readers to become high level readers is through reading stories they can enjoy independently.

What made you love reading? Judy Bloom? Walter Dean Meyers? Roald Dahl? Chances are, a book got you hooked, and you've continued to read since.
My students have learning disabilities that hinder their academic progress.
They're more than capable of reading at grade level, but it has taken them longer than many of their peers. Unfortunately, our middle school does not have the lower level books my students need to help develop the skills good readers require. My students struggle to keep up with the middle school texts, and need the opportunity to access stories at their current reading level in order to build their way up. My students are bright, energetic, and eager to learn. They've faced many setbacks in their lives, but they still come to school each day hoping to get better at reading. They've overcome challenges both in and outside of school to come as far as they have, and they must grow as readers in order to continue to succeed in high school.
I am requesting books at my student's reading levels. Since we are a middle school, most of the books in our library cater to stronger readers (6-8th grade). As it stands, the only options my students have for leveled texts that meets them at their needs are online print-off stories. I want them to have the opportunity to curl up with a book in hand and truly understand everything they read. I want them to learn to love the smell of a new book, and the excitement of curling up for an afternoon to read.
Your donation can make a big difference in providing my students the books they need to become better readers.
My students have big dreams, and must strengthen their reader skills in order to achieve these goals. As Dr. Seuss so eloquently said- "The more you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you'll go!" Thank you for your support in helping my students succeed!
