Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are resilient and have great determination to become fluent readers. 100% of my students have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) with over 50% identified with characteristics of dyslexia. Reading may be a struggle for them but the growth they make each year is astounding! My classroom gives children from all cultures, areas, and incomes to an opportunity to learn fundamental reading skills.

My students are creative, thoughtful and full of questions.

They beam with joy as they proudly increase their love for reading. They love to learn and i'm very thankful to have a new group of diverse learners join my class each year!

My Project

When my students read chapter books, they gain a boost of confidence and the motivation to read more. Due to reading difficulties, students do not often attempt to read a chapter book or have the support to read a chapter book independently. In our classroom, students will be provided with support to read about the magical adventures in the Magic Tree House books.

The books are written at a level students can decode and read while having the success of finishing a chapter book.

Junie B. Jones and Weird School provide comic relief and encourage students to read for enjoyment.
