This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in a low socioeconomic campus. Most of my students are bilingual English language learners. My students face many struggles such as homelessness and poverty. Many of them lack parental support and in spite of that they are energetic learners with a smile on their face and a positive attitude who love to learn Math! I try to make learning come to life for them to help them understand that Math can be fun and they can succeed in school.

My Project

Making learning fun in such an important core content area such as Math can be challenging at times. Through the use of these Lakeshore Hands On Teaching Kits and Step by Step Activity cards I can make Math come alive. My students can participate in small group instruction in abstract lessons by using the Build and Learn Geometric Kit and the Lakeshore Game fI’ve always believed that learning should be a positive experience full of fun and exploration. With these center games and skill building centers, my students can experience the magic of Math and make meaningful connections to help them set a strong foundation in Mathematics. My school receives very limited funds and there is no budget for improving our curriculum through activities such as these. Please help my students experience the wonderful world of Math with these manipulatives and Math games!
