My students need positive incentives like bookmarks and awards as well as equipment to use that will spark their imaginations when they enter this safe place.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am getting ready to begin my 3rd year as a Middle School Librarian. I love waking up every morning to come into work to make a difference in every child’s life! So far, I have spent a lot of my own money to create a fun and interactive environment for each student who enters my library. It is my hope to be able to purchase and create more exciting things for the students who enter my library this year! Several of the students who attend my school face struggles everyday, including homelessness and foster homes.
My Project
The theme of my library is Harry Potter, so the area rug will be used for a floor reading zone.
I hope to have my students engage with not only each other in a positive matter, but also with their surroundings.
The electric pencil sharpener is a need, as well as the bookmarks and colored sharpies. Each student who comes in to have a quiet place to read or work on classroom assignments will benefit from having these small luxuries.
Each month I plan to hold an AR party to the top 50 students who meet their reading goals. It is extremely difficult to get ASB to allot money specifically for these parties, but holding them has previously received positive attention from the students.
