Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are remarkably vibrant, creative, and deeply invested in the legacy of our school community. What I love most about them is their genuine desire to see themselves reflected in our shared history, alongside their innate curiosity about the generations of students who walked these halls before them. They thrive when they can see the real-world impact of storytelling and community building.

These secure, high-visibility yearbook display cases will serve as a living, breathing historical resource in the Library.

By bringing our school’s archive out of locked closets and into the public eye, these cases will foster crucial visual literacy and historical empathy.

Students across all grade levels will be able to actively analyze changing design trends, journalism styles, photographic evolutions, and societal shifts across the decades. Furthermore, having access to these archives will directly inspire our current yearbook, media, and graphic design students by providing them with a tangible, permanent reference library of layout design and historical documentation. Ultimately, this resource teaches our students that their stories matter and that they are part of a continuous, meaningful history.
