My students need spray paint and paint markers in order to help spread inspiration and motivation in the school community by becoming a part of The Kindness Rocks Project.
My school district has a very diverse student body in regards to both ethnicity and economic class. A large percentage of our students qualify for free/reduced lunch. Some of the backgrounds and home lives my students have would break your heart, but they are strong individuals and show up to school trying their best. Many of my students struggle with having their basic needs met, yet are supportive of each other and show me that there are no limits to the inspiration and motivation they give each other.
My Project
Life is hard enough- why not make it a little easier with kindness? I first learned about The Kindness Rocks Project last summer. I immediately knew it was something I would like to get started as a club at the high school I work at. The Kindness Rocks Project has two goals:
Goal #1: Inspire others through randomly placed rocks along the way... and
Goal #2: Recruit every person who stumbles upon it to join in the pursuit of inspiring others through random acts of kindness.
I will be using the spray paint and paint markers that are purchased with your donation to help my students create beautiful, uplifting, and inspirational messages on rocks. These rocks will be left on the school grounds in designated areas for other students to admire or even to take if a specific message resonates with them. I would also like to have this project expand outside of the school community and into the city if students choose to leave their rocks in public locations. I can't wait to see how far a little hope and kindness can reach!
