My Students

My students attend a K-8 school in Southern California. Since most of them have been together since Kindergarten they are a tight-knit bunch. In middle school they can choose between band, orchestra, or choir and currently about half of the students are involved in music!

My students inspire me every day with their kindness, quick wit and humor.

They truly are an enjoyable group to be around and we have so much fun creating music every day in our classroom.

I think most of my students would say the best part about music is the performances. They are always excited to perform in concerts and show off all the hard work they have done!

My Project

My students choose to attend an extra hour of music by participating in jazz band. This keyboard will give us an additional instrument to perform with. We currently have an out-of-tune upright piano but it not ideal for our needs in jazz. We need an amplified instrument that can be moved easily.

By learning jazz, they also learn improvisation and an entirely new style of music.

I find that these jazz band students are exceptionally motivated to progress on their instrument and learn these new techniques.

We already had our first performance and some students had to share an instrument which was not ideal. This keyboard would also allow us to easily play anywhere on campus and would give the piano students a quality instrument.
