Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are urban students in PreK through 8th Grade. My students are up and coming, often beginning, musicians. It is my privilege to help these students take the first step into this lifelong journey.

My students are my absolute favorite musicians.

Every time they hold instruments in their hands, sing songs, or listen to the great works, they have the same gleeful expression as the first time they did. Their excitement knows no boundaries. They are always looking for the next musical adventure, no matter the challenge.

My Project

My students have the opportunity to attend a K-8 arts enrichment elementary school. This keyboard will be used during regular classroom lessons, as well as during before and after school programs.

I will be able to use this keyboard to prepare my students for performances.

This keyboard will allow me to play individual and group parts for elementary and middle school choir performances. It will give me the opportunity to play the accompaniment for them as well.

I will be able to play and perform pieces for my students in class, allowing them to experience a variety of musical styles and live performances. This keyboard will allow me to use it as an example for students' learning in every imaginable way. It is an invaluable tool for learning.
