I am currently employed at a Title I public school in an impoverished rural community. More than half of the students at my school are high-risk behavior and are performing below the state-required academic standards. Many of my students are struggling readers and writers but they are all still so eager and willing to learn. This school year has been very difficult to keep up with student performance and achievement due to the unexpectedness of the current pandemic we are facing.
As a fifth-year teacher, I want my students to have everything in the classroom that they may be lacking at home and then some.
I want to be able to provide a classroom environment of guidance, support, innovative learning, and comfort. My students are so enthusiastic about learning but because of the extenuating circumstances of the school year, it has been such a hardship on them and their joy for learning. It is also difficult to purchase supplies and resources for such a large number of students.
I am requesting an iPad pencil which will transform my small group instruction, so that I can deliver engaging and exciting ELA, Social Studies and SEL lessons to an amazing and enthusiastic group of eager third grader students.
An iPad Pencil will support teaching and learning as well as provide extra support when testing students using new and improved district online programs.
The iPad pencil will be used at a learning station, alongside and ipad in the classroom to support differentiated reading and learning. The pencil will also be a great support as I assess students with reading tasks, quizzes and benchmark assessments. The iPad pencil will make assessing students more manageable and also easier to record and track their growth.
