This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

A class set of the novel "The Hundred Dresses" will help support valuable lessons taught to our upper-elementary disadvantaged students. This novel will support showing compassion, having integrity, and the importance of forgiveness.

Building character, students will learn why compassion, integrity, and forgiveness are such important ingredients to have in their tool belts, especially as they practice looking at the world through the lenses of another person.

My students will work together during this novel study with a goal of brainstorming how they can put these lessons into action to help those like the characters they read about in this book.

To demonstrate their understanding of compassion, students will complete a project where they choose from a choice board which includes (1) writing a friendly letter which includes elements of the story, (2) designing dresses, having completed multi-cultural research which supports their designs, (3) create a bullying handout, having completed research providing supportive evidence.
