This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are awesome! Although 100% of my students receive free breakfast and lunch, and most come from homes where English is not the primary language spoken, they don't realize that, according to our society, they are disadvantaged. I don't see them as disadvantaged either. To me, they are bright, inquisitive five-year olds ready to take on the world. The world can, and should be, their oyster!

They come to school eager and ready to learn, absorbing knowledge faster than a sponge absorbs water.

They then take what they have learned and go home and teach their parents, many of whom don't speak English as their primary language. They ask them questions and insist that their parents answer in full sentences please (a morning meeting must in my class!). My district struggles to provide us with basic classroom supplies. There is no money in the budget for the extras, therefore those extras (from butterflies to band-aids to bubbles, and yes, tablets) come out of my pocket, which is nowhere near as deep as it needs to be! Learning should be fun and somehow, with your help, we will continue to make that happen. Thank you for believing in my students!

My Project

My school has a curriculum in place that allows for nuts and bolts learning to occur. However, there are so many wise and wonderful teachers out there that have given their time and effort to produce wonderful, whimsical, colorful resources that make that learning fun! Unfortunately, all of these fantastic resources have to be printed, laminated, and cut out.

There are no magic elves that come into my classroom in the middle of the night and take plain sheets of paper and turn them into learning centers worthy of inquisitive 5 and 6 year olds!

My adult children no longer have the time to help their mom prepare classroom resources. The time spent preparing new learning materials for my classroom is time that would be better spent preparing exciting new lessons. The Brother ScanNCut 2 would make the preparation smooth and painless.
