This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

At the end of every year, we like to celebrate the achievements of our runners with a celebration party where we have food, drinks, and gifts! It is something that our runners look forward to every year as they reminisce the races they attended, the mile time trials they've ran, and the fun they had at practices.

This year, we are in need of several special gifts.

The first one is a picture frame that holds 8 photos. We will give this to one of our runners who will be leaving our school at the end of the year. We will put photos of her running as well as team pictures we've taken. The second, third, and fourth special gifts are chocolate, a kitchen tool, and a Lego architecture kit. This year, we will say goodbye to a few 8th graders whose parents have been of tremendous help to us since 2019. For example, one parent tirelessly takes photos of all our runners with his professional camera at all our races. He's been able to capture some really nice and special moments, and our runners love it when they see photos of themselves in action. I've asked the kids what their helper parents like and this is what they came up with. These special gifts will be a special surprise for them!

Finally, the last part of our project aren't gifts. They're equipment for the team. Runners start weight training when they start high school. We thought it would be useful to have a couple of dumbbells and gloves for our bigger runners who want to start weight training a little bit early. We also need slip-resistant metal batons because at relay races, they use those. We currently have slippery plastic ones.
