My Project

My fifth-grade students are curious, enthusiastic, and wonderfully unique readers. They each bring different interests, experiences, strengths, and challenges to our classroom, and I love watching them discover books that capture their attention and make them excited to read. The books I am requesting will give my students more opportunities to find stories and topics that interest them while building their confidence as readers. Having a variety of engaging, high-interest books available will help students see reading as something enjoyable rather than simply an assignment. These books are also appropriately challenging and help them grow as independent readers.

My goal is to create a classroom reading environment where every student can find a book in which they can see themselves, learn something new, or become completely immersed in a great story.

The requested books will support our daily reading block by providing opportunities to strengthen vocabulary, fluency, comprehension, critical thinking, and reading stamina. Most importantly, I want my students to develop a genuine love of reading that continues beyond fifth grade. My students are special because they are eager to learn, ask thoughtful questions, encourage one another, and bring so much personality to our classroom. These books will help me give them the choice, access, and inspiration they need to become lifelong readers.
