Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are a class full of eager learners! As a title one school in the heart of East Los Angeles, many of my students come from immigrant families and are English learners. Compounded with the special education settings, every little bit of color and vibrancy helps to keep them engaged and wanting to learn.
My Project
To help accommodate the different types of learners in my room, it is necessary to modify and present my lessons and assignments in multiple versions. What this means is endless printing and unfortunately for my current classroom situation, this means endless black and white printing.
If you have ever tried to read a story about the vibrant colors on a butterfly or the rainbow scales on a fish, you know the value of seeing pictures in color!
Color helps grabs students attention and keep them engaged. Even more so for special education, color may be the only thing keeping your young reader interested in the work in front of them. Being able to print out my assignments and readings for in class and at home in color would do wonders for keeping my students engaged and interested in learning! thank you for reading!
