Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

It is important that my students have an opportunity to observe, investigate, and experiment with planting and become their own gardeners in the garden club. I have requested planters, gardening tools, gardening gloves, and flower and herb seeds for them to sow. The children will have planter pots to add Miracle-Gro potting mix and the seeds , so that they can be part of the beginning process of planting. They will observe and take pictures with an instant camera of the plants. The children will draw pictures, take photographs and label it as part of their observations and investigation.

Children learn best through first-hand experiences in and out of the classroom.

I want my students to be young gardeners as they each experiment with plants individually and collectively. I have requested live succulents and organic cactus and succulent soil for the kids to have to plant with trowels. They will be able to see the difference of the growth of the various succulent plants. I believe this will be great for them because they will learn all about the planting process and evolution. They will ultimately come away being gardeners in the garden club.
