I am a fourth grade city school teacher that is dedicated and determined to enrich the lives of my students. I have a large class that presents challenges because of size and lack of parental support. I want to inspire my children by exposing them to books that they might not have the opportunity to read. The book I have chosen presents a challenge within the story. My students face real life challenges daily. I want them to be inspired to solve the challenges they face through educating themselves and becoming better readers.
My goal is to expose them to something different from the television they watch and the video games they play. I want to create a literature rich environment that will open up better avenues for them in the future.
My students need 1 copy of "Hatchet", by Gary Paulsen. The students will use this book daily during language arts.
