Picture a room full of 20 students reading an exciting novel that encourages problem solving and critical thinking skills. This school year, it is my hope to use novels by Gary Paulsen to thrill my students with tales of adventure. My hope is to use novels as a tool to teach literary objectives in a fun and creative way. I teach in a lower income elementary school that often lacks funding to purchase extra resources. My mission is to create a safe and nurturing environment that fosters learning and forces students to forget about their impoverished backgrounds. It is my hope to provide each child with an essential knowledge base in the classroom.
