The majority of my students are hands-on learners. Learning the theory is important, but the hands-on activities help them know, feel, see and understand the connection between what they learn and the application.
The calculators, pencils, colored pens/pencils, sharpeners and rulers are the supplies my students use almost every day in class.
Calculators help students who lack basic number-calculation skills catch up. We use rulers and colored pencils/pens a lot in our Transformations and Systems of Linear Equations units. Those supplies help my students keep track of the transformations performed, do and see how a shape or diagram transformed. Please help me give my students the supplies they need in order for them to be successful in our class. Most of my students come from low-income families and buying school supplies is not a top or second priority in most parents' lists.
