My Project
In many traditional classrooms, students spend the majority of the day sitting at desks. I want to provide my students with flexible seating options that will help them to actively engage in the learning process and utilize all of the space in our classroom!
Children bodies are always in motion.
Often students find it difficult to sit still for long periods. One way to aid my students with learning to control their movement, and to stay focused on their learning, is to have opportunities to choose flexible seating options, i.e bean bag chairs, gaming rockers, yoga balls, wiggle stools, etc.
I have found that my students who need more support with staying focused during class time benefit from using flexible seating when available. They are able to maintain longer periods of concentration, especially on complex learning tasks and tests. This is crucial because students are required to sit for extended periods of time to complete district and state comprehensive assessments throughout the school year. Having flexible seating provides my class with another tool to use to help them achieve their academic goals.
