My students are seventh graders in a diverse community. They are smack dab in the middle of the transition between middle and high schools. They come from various socio-economic classes.
Many of the students in the district do not have a means of providing necessary school supplies, so the teachers become responsible for purchasing enough for them to get by.
The students look to their teachers for much more than just supplies. For many of them, school is their safe haven. Their teachers are the only positive role models that they have to look up to.
I feel it is necessary to make each day unique and provide my students with as many experiences as possible. This is only possible through various types of instruction which unfortunately requires resources many teachers aren't provided with. Your donations make it possible for teachers to broaden the horizons of their students through differentiated instruction.
My Project
Every 7th grader looks forward to dissection day! They hear about this day before they ever even start their 7th grade year. It's famous! It's traditional. My students dissect frogs every single spring after our unit on Human Body Systems.
This is a day.
This is a lab. This is an experience they'll never forget. They will tell their friends, parents, and one day kids of their own about the day they dissected frogs in the seventh grade. It's such a great way for the students to make a real world connection to what they've just studied.
The funding for these specimen gets harder and harder to find each year. So, this year, I decided to come to you, the amazing donors for help. These materials will make this lab possible. A virtual dissection is not nearly as amazing as the real thing.
