This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

During period 2, it happened! My laptop over heated and shut itself down during the SMART board interactive lesson! More disappointments: My laptop operating system is too old for updating the newer version of Firefox. In order to use Kuta software, I must use Windows, but I have this old Apple

My eighth grade algebra students are mostly Hispanics and African Americans.

They are friendly and have excellent rapport with the teacher. Most are eager to learn, especially when the lesson involves using technology. Being a Title 1 middle school, students are from low socio-economic background in an urban area.

My Project

I am requesting a laptop for which I will use in conducting classroom lessons to inspire my students to become life-long learners. Technology is changing so fast. To help students stay current and prepare them for the technology age, I want to teach students to use the available technology on campus. In order to educate my students using the SMART board, I need a reliable laptop that will not burn out after one class period’s use. As an example, my students will learn to add like terms using the moving feature in the SMART board. Students will also become more excited about school when they are successful. I will also be able to create email accounts on gmail.com when it prompts me to update my Firefox version—right now my OS is too old and incompatible. My school recently purchase a site license for teachers to us Kutasoftware.com to create customize worksheets for differentiation. Unfortunately, I have an old apple laptop and Kuta software requires Windows.

Your donation for this project will inspire more students to like school and become more excited about learning.

My goal is to motivate as many students as I can in the one short year they have me a their teacher, and build on the love of learning. Your donations will help me achieve that goal and make a difference in these students’ lives. This project will help students become more efficient learners through the use of technology and become useful citizens.
