This is my second year teaching fifth grade. I have a wonderful group of fifth grade students, most of which are boys. My group of students is made up of a variety of ethnicities and backgrounds, all with very caring, involved parents and family members. As we go through the year, we will learn a lot about each other, and I am looking forward to learning new and amazing things about each and every one of my students!
Our school has something called a 'love pantry', this helps to supply families in need with food, hygiene products, and even clothes.
Our school here is a school of excellence, which means that we perform at the top of our county's list of schools. This also means that our students work very hard to improve and better themselves on a daily basis. I know that my students and I will be able to work together and conquer any challenges that are thrown at us!
My Project
These books will help to foster my students desire to continue on their reading journeys. Every year I try to build up my classroom by asking my students what they are interested in reading, and every year that interest changes. This year it's the Warrior Cats series, but next year it could be Dog Man. The awesome thing about authors is that they are always creating new material that ignites a child's creative mind. Our school has even had author's come visit us. The last one was Max Brallier who has a new book coming out in April, which we pre-ordered.
My number one goal is to try to make school and learning as enjoyable as I can for my students with the use of good books.
My kids love reading so much that they take their books to lunch and out to recess! I want to continue to encourage and nurture that eagerness to read by ensuring that when they are finished with one book they are just as eager to start the next. The best way to foster a creative learning environment is with reading. To ensure that I only chose books that interested my students, I had them all write down what they were interested in and added it to the list. With your help, I will be able to support my students on their reading quests to find excitement, solve mysteries, and laugh out loud!
