Dear Donors Choose, Thank you for reading my proposal. I am hoping to send my 20 third graders to the Sunnyvale Community Theater to see the musical "The Elves and the Shoemaker". I am requesting to cover the cost of 22 tickets and a bus. This is a great experience for my students because many of them come from low income families and are unable to attend cultural events within the city. I also have one homeless child in my class whom I would love to give to her this opportunity. Our school is made up of 30% low income families. We are a Title I school as well as an ELD (English/Language Development) school. Therefore we receive many students from all over the world. Seeing a show like The Elves and the Shoemaker, would tie into our literature standards of fairy tales. This would give the kids a hands on experience to help them to develop better creative writing fiction pieces as well. I would like to give my students this wonderful experience to allow them to enjoy their youth, to further understand the genre of fairy tales and to experience a cultural event.
