My Project

Art is significant in student development. My students do not have many worldly experiences beyond where they live, so teaching about other cultures and regions can be challenging. The art supplies listed will continue to enhance the loving art room I strive to create and give them more hands-on experience with clay. The art room is a place where students feel safe and able to express themselves more freely and openly.

Clay is one medium that promotes creativity.

Students are amazed to learn the clay they touch comes from the Earth and can possibly be found in their backyards. Clay is a natural fidget toy as it promotes relaxation and has a calming effect when touching it. It is especially beneficial to young people – it helps promote self-confidence, encourages self-expression, and develops problem-solving skills. With these art supplies, my students will be able to learn more about the form and function of clay while also fostering their creative nature. Their clay lessons will integrate with their science, math, and social studies classes, creating balanced learning in school. My students already show a love for making pinch pots, and more clay lessons will only help enrich their basic understanding of 3D art.
