My students need art materials such as People Shape Kits, mini books, and colored pencils to create puppets and books about themselves to celebrate their diversity in a creative, meaningful and long lasting way.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have an energetic, inquisitive and enthusiastic group of twenty-six 7- and 8-year-olds in the inner city of Providence, Rhode Island. They are always eager to come to school and love to read, write and problem solve in such thoughtful and creative ways! My students are so appreciative of each other and all that we do every day. They are culturally diverse and enjoy sharing their own unique experiences with the class. We learn from each other. My school is working hard to build community among families and staff and we have a safe, respectful environment.
My Project
My classroom is a diverse, cheerful, vibrant, and engaging place that the students and I take pride in. We celebrate each other’s uniqueness and encourage everyone to collaborate and share their ideas so we can all learn and grow from each other. I would like the students to be able to represent themselves in an artistic, creative way by creating special and long lasting puppets and All About Me books that we can all read and share and keep in a special part of our classroom library. The 2 puppet kits have enough materials for every child to accurately create themselves with lots of choice, creative freedom, and options to experiment with. The books are durable and definitely made to last. The classroom set of colored pencils would be used for the books but also for many art projects throughout the year. Thank you so much for your time and attention. Any help at all is greatly appreciated. It would be truly so wonderful is my students could have these materials to celebrate their diversity and create special long lasting representations of themselves.
