We need to see the world! The globes in our classroom still show USSR as a country! Please help us view the world as it is today instead of the outdated world we see on our current globe!
Budgets keep getting smaller and I often spend my own money buying basic school supplies for students who come to school without any.
I've exhausted my personal allowance for the classroom this year and I am in dire need of new globes for a hands on learning experience for my students. New learning standards in my 4th grade classroom has left me without the learning materials I need to inspire my students in engaging lessons. My students are active learners who need movement and visual models to help keep them motivated.
Our single globe is so old that I am uncomfortable using it for classroom lessons. I also need several globes so student can manipulate the globes themselves to understand how the earth moves around the sun to help learn patterns of objects in the sky.
My Project
Our class uses lamps to represent the sun and the globes to represent the earth. All students will have the opportunity to move the globe around the lamp simulating sunrise and sunset ultimately understanding that when it is daytime on one side of the earth it is nighttime on the other!
By helping to provide my students with globes, donors will be providing a highly engaging learning activity for my students.
Most of my students learn by doing and it is so important for them to actively participate in as many learning activities as possible. Donors can help my students on their way to understanding how one part of our world functions.
