The kids are SO excited about the new materials! They are super motivated to learn their town, city, state and country in order to earn a globe squeeze ball! I had to order some replacement items due to availability and they LOVE the 2 new Chris Van Dusen books- he is our featured author this month and I have been using the Mr. Magee series as mentor texts for our current writing unit! They so love finding Mr. Magee and his little dog Dee in the illustrations in his other books, too.\r\n They are super excited about getting new book bags and new desk nameplates as well as Summer Reading bags. They will have to wait until closer to the end of school for the big reveal of their filled Summer Book Bags and the Summer Reading Challenge! The suspense is so much fun and they have all become stellar readers!\r\n They just love getting a paw notecard from me for extra effort, drawings, gifts and just for encouragement when needed! That goes not just for my present class, but past students through fifth grade as well! Modeling showing gratitude, writing, reading and \"noticing\" others in this way has huge impact in multiple ways!\r\n They can't WAIT to use the new rulers next week as we embark on a cross curricular unit of measurement and mapping- getting a cool ruler to take home will encourage them to share their new learning with families and to PRACTICE their new skills! \r\n The giant bag of dum dum lollipops was met with shrieks of joy- we had run out of several preferred flavors! They fondly recalled getting sunglasses when THEY came to \"Move Up\" day last June and are so excited about telling my NEXT class about EVERYTHING First Grade in June.\r\n Thank you again for your generous donation- we are all extremely grateful for your thoughtfulness and support!","fullyFundedDate":1742944575960,"projectUrl":"project/completely-random-restocks-for-an-amazin/9191080/","projectTitle":"Completely Random Restocks For An Amazing First Grade Classroom!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Stover","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3216806_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1516474979069","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/trae-stover"},{"teacherId":9309515,"projectId":8631778,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous support with your donation to supply our classroom with snowshoes! Students were very excited to open the packages and eager for enough snow to arrive to use them. Students became more engaged in weather predictions and tracking patterns. When enough snow finally arrived, students bundled up in their winter gear, including the Dino mittens included in the packages! Each student took ownership of bringing their own snowshoes out to the field and was ready to put on their new temporary feet.\r\nIn the fresh snow, students transferred our classroom conversations and literacy into dialogue while maneuvering and using unfamiliar gross motor movements to traverse the snow. The excitement for many students lingered after their first experience, ready to have more opportunities to practice!\r\nAs the snow melts away, the memories of our experiences remain vivid, with students frequently recalling our outdoor learning adventures during classroom discussions.","fullyFundedDate":1733164209783,"projectUrl":"project/crunch-crunch-snowshoe-monster-tracks/8631778/","projectTitle":"Crunch! They are working so incredibly hard and doing their very best to be safe, respectful and responsible in order to earn money to purchase desk pets! They love their \r\n\"banks\" and are now experts at exchanging smaller bills for larger bills and calculating the change when they make a purchase! The oral language, collaboration and creativity each day at snack time when the pets come out of their homes is a joy to this teacher's ears and eyes!\r\n They are LOVING the new colored dry erase markers for practicing high frequency words and mastery has increased markedly as a result of this small thing! They created amazing valentine mailboxes with the colored paper which I sadly forgot to photograph! They practiced newly acquired alphabetical order skills as they delivered their cards to classmates and staff! They also made super cute color photo valentines for their family which I also forgot to photograph. We were all struggling with colds, coughs and illness before break!\r\n The valentine tablecloth and bubbles made our Valentine party extra special and a great time was had by all! The stools that you helped purchase have made our learning areas expand. The kids were already claiming their favorite colors. They helped me determine where the stools should be stored when not in use.\r\n\r\nOur math lessons are more comfortable as the students can circle their stools together rather than sitting on the floor. They take a few stools to play games together, with a stool holding the game board in the middle.
