Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students call themselves the "Peacekeepers". They participate in a Restorative Justice Conflict Resolution group while building a school garden, and growing into leaders. Last fall, we learned how nature helps us work together while practicing patience through the planting of rose bushes.

This spring, we plan to uplift the community by building a vegetable garden to share with families.

Being that my students live in an urban school district, this project will provide an opportunity to experience locally grown foods while connecting to the power of nature's healing effects. They will practice spreading peace and love to our community through food, and a butterfly release. This experience reminds us that we are all connected and capable of change and growth.
