The Classroom Edit

Help me give my students new classroom storage for our art supplies! So many of our containers are falling apart- I think nice, new storage would even lift their spirits & inspire them to create.

My Students

I teach high school Art I, Art II, & am also the Yearbook sponsor. As an art educator, my goal is to encourage students to be creative, open-minded, and inventive critical thinkers. I love seeing students come to life when they're given the chance to create. My students are full of life and are often also teaching me to see things from their perspectives.

My aim is to not only teach students artistic skill, but also how to use their art to make a difference, appreciate artisans and artistic abilities, learn from the history of humanity, and how to use art as a venue for expressing emotion in a healthy way.

I create lessons that connect to other content areas in effort to build a bridge between all areas of my students' education. I love watching my students grow in skill and creativity. I'm so honored to be a part of their creative journey. They give me so much hope for the future.

Most of my students don’t necessarily enjoy reading, but my hope is that, by presenting them with fun magazines about art content, I can spark their interest in reading and art at the same time!

My Project

Our classroom storage has been utilized since I was an art student at PHS (over a decade ago) & was purchased on a budget, not meant to last more than a few years, at the most. Our shelving is falling apart, but more than that, it is difficult to store our art supplies in a way that all students can see what they have the opportunity to use because we don't have containers that are functional or made for storing supplies.

When students can see their resources displayed in an organized and functional manner, they will be inspired to create, seeing all of the opportunities and tools they have at their disposal.

Students thrive in a clean, well-organized classroom. It also motivates them to take better care of supplies. My students get frustrated trying to find supplies on a daily basis. I try to organize & label supplies to the best of my ability, but nothing beats being able to see the supplies with their own eyes! Things easily get misplaced because our containers aren't clear and some students find it easy to just throw a supply in a random bin.

On the TV show The Home Edit, they re-organized a classroom supply closet that looks a lot like my classroom. I am hoping to turn my classroom storage around, as well, with the help of generous donors like you.
