The Classroom Aquarium Project: Teaching Habitats & Responsible Animal Care

Help me give my students the knowledge on the proper way to care for fish using an aquarium and accessories. Too many times people mistreat aquatic animals due to lack of knowledge of them.

My Project

This past school year, I had a class pet Beta Fish. I taught my students about habitats of different animals.

I want to take this a step further by doing the entire set up process of the aquarium with my 3rd graders.

I want to teach them the proper care for aquatic animals. Too many times these animals do not receive the proper care that they need to thrive. While teaching my students how to properly set up an aquarium, I will also be teaching them about animal habitats and ecosystems. When done correctly, an aquarium can be a full functioning ecosystem with little to no human support. My goal is for students to be apart of the entire process to learn and increase their knowledge on responsible animal care, habitats, and ecosystems.
