The Calming Project

My Project

I have students that struggle with emotional and anger issues that would benefit from the use of the calming tent. They need a place to go that is quiet and separate from the rest of the class to go and calm down. Right now they are in a closet! By being separate they have place to practice their breathing strategies, pull themselves together, and regroup, without the judgement of other students. The wobble seats will be for the many special education students with sensory needs that need help in focusing and staying on task. The jelly fish light will be a calming effect on all the students as they come into the room.

My goal is to help the many special education students feel like every other student without them looking different from peers.

My students are special because they have diagnosis' of different disabilities that require the individualized help of a special education class.
