Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Assist me in providing the students with a more engaging and visually appealing classroom. Thoughtfully chosen decor reflects a space unique and welcoming. It provides a tranquil sanctuary to unwind, escape daily pressures, and immerse yourself in literature. Students often face everyday struggles and stressful situations in high school that I find it important to provide students with a safe space where they feel confident enough to share their opinions, perspectives, and develop their voice. The decorations and lights serve to create a sort of book nook in the classroom when students are reading, writing, or even discussing the text.
A decorated book nook can also serve as a gathering place for book discussions, literary events, or reading clubs which is why the lamps, light covers, lights, book lights, etc.
are included. By providing a cozy and inviting space, you can foster a sense of community among fellow book enthusiasts, facilitating the exchange of ideas, recommendations, and shared reading experiences. The rolling chair allows for the teacher to wheel around the classroom in order to facilitate these conversations. Becoming open to new ideas and sharing their own ideas is pivotal when developing understanding for others and themselves.
Many students also have difficulty with issues such as anxiety, ADHD, and overall stress that fidget toys allow for students to have a distraction in order to promote focus and comfort. This I believe is necessary as students observe the required compassion when having open conversations with others. as well as when topics arise within literature.
Lastly, a major reason for the lights, especially, are to improve students awareness of sustainability. Students are often unaware of the need to save energy and assist in our global demands. Even the smallest changes can spark the students to make a change.
