My Students

Imagine the joy of opening a book and reading for enjoyment! That is what I would love my students to feel, the joy of reading. Reading can open a whole new world for any reader. It can transport them to unknown lands and worlds.

Reading will allow students to travel the world without leaving their home or classroom.

Our students, who come from a diversity of backgrounds, will benefit greatly with the requested materials. Their learning will enhance because of your generosity.

My Project

These books will nourish the love of reading I am trying to achieve in my classroom. In an era where it is easy to just watch a movie of any classical book, many children have not had the opportunity to begin a love affair with books.

With a class set (40) of the first book in the Harry Potter's series, all 85 of my sixth graders will begin their journey of reading starting off in Hogwarts!

Some of my students have seen the movie version of this book but many of them have not read the book. I want to prove to my students that reading the actual book surpasses what any movie production could possibly do to capture the essence of the book. I want my students to begin their journey with books and realize that there are many places, lands, and worlds to explore with the magic of reading.

These books not only nourish our students' love of reading, but they will also help them practice all the concepts and skills we learn in our sixth grade ELA class. All while enjoying a book that will spark their imagination.
