Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

When I was a student one of my favorite parts of the day was silent reading, this has now evolved what what is called "book choice." My students and I love this part of the day. I love watching them eagerly go over to the book shelf to find something new and of interest to them.

My students are of a curious mind.

Once they find a topic they like they enjoy learning everything they can about that topic. I love when the come up to me with a "did you know that". I love that they can teach me new things. At the school we are fortunate enough to have a library but I want the students to be able to have options in the classroom as well.

My Project

My students will be using these books for their book choice time as well as using to write their book reports. Also the books will be used for inspiration and to trigger their imagination. I want them to be able to use these books to understand more about who they are as a person.

This project will improve my classroom because students will have a variety of choices of reading material.

Not all the students are able to afford books of their own and I want to be able to provide that opportunity for them.
