Learning about the human body is personal to kids...they all have a body!
My students are terrific and come to school expecting to learn great things.
They also come with some real challenges that I never had growing up and probably you didn't either. Our school is in an inner city and services children who are all eligible for free breakfast and lunch. Many parents have to work more than one job to make ends meet.
My Project
I am requesting a variety of materials to address all learning styles. We can learn about the human body in many ways! My proposal includes books - both traditional informational text and some really gross stuff (books like "Burp!" and "A Zombie's Guide To The Human Body" - which kids love - as well as plays about the body, puzzles, art projects, and more! Children have many learning styles and I'd like to address them all.
Immersing children in a unit of study helps them learn more and retain the information longer.
They will read about the human body, work in teams to create art and both read and write plays. Maybe your donation will help spark an interest in medicine in a child who may otherwise end up living a less ambitious life.
