When the materials arrived, my students were beyond excited to explore them. Their eyes lit up when they saw the colorful flip charts for word blends, magic e, and digraphs, as well as the spaceman writing tools. For many of my students, these resources brought a new sense of excitement and engagement to our lessons. One of my students eagerly exclaimed, \"I can't wait to use this to write like a real author!\" Their enthusiasm was contagious, and it was incredible to see how these tools transformed our classroom into a space buzzing with curiosity and creativity.\r\n\r\nThese tools have already made a big difference in our learning. For example, during small group sessions, we've been using the flip charts to practice building and blending words. The hands-on nature of the materials has made abstract concepts much easier for my students to grasp, especially for those who need extra support. The spaceman writing tools have been a game-changer for my younger writers, helping them visualize spacing between words while creating their own sentences. It's rewarding to see their confidence grow with each activity.\r\n\r\nAs we continue to use these materials, the next steps include incorporating them into our upcoming unit on narrative writing. The flip charts will help students identify and apply new phonics skills in their writing, while the spaceman tools will guide them in forming complete sentences. These resources have opened up new opportunities for differentiated instruction, and I'm so excited to see how much my students will grow. Your support has truly made an impact, and I can't thank you enough for investing in their success!","fullyFundedDate":1676479861930,"projectUrl":"project/small-group-learning-tools/7192409/","projectTitle":"Small Group Learning Tools","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Gumbs","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5931902_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1739541603318","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-gumbs"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_1032","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":810,"numTeachers":57,"percentFrplEligible":82,"percentAsian":12,"percentBlack":35,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":3,"percentLatinx":45,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"14.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":67.8,"schoolId":1032,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about PS 116 William Hughley on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"PS 116 William Hughley","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/ps-116-william-hughley/1032"}
