I teach a secondary Life Skills classroom in a small town. My class is interested in starting up a "bistro" in our classroom. We would like to cook lunch for the staff and hand deliver the lunches to the faculty rooms. This will be a great opportunity in so many ways! My students will learn the ins and outs of running a small business. They will be involved in taking orders, making out a shopping list, going for groceries, helping prepare the meals, delivering the meals, and collecting the proceeds.
My students are very eager, cooperative, social, and enthusiastic "go-getters"!
We are really hoping to be able to get enough of a back-up to get our "small business" up and running the very near future! Thanks in advance for your generosity!
My Project
We would like to start up a small restaurant delivery business. We will be taking orders from the school staff in the faculty rooms and then preparing meals and delivering them to the staff on set days. I am using this as a major curriculum builder.
There are SO many educational aspects that will be focused on!
Some of them being planning, budgeting, food preparation, safety in the kitchen, proper hygiene (wearing hair nets, gloves, aprons, washing hands), socialization, advertising, public relations (getting the school staff interested and motivated to order from us), math skills, and seeing the end results by earning our own money to go on field trips, etc.!
The resources we are requesting are crucial before we can get anything started are the "to-go" containers that we will need. We are a "delivery service" restaurant, delivering to the staff in our school's faculty rooms, offices, etc. These containers are a necessity in order to contain and keep food fresh and warm/cold for delivery.
