I teach Pre-K and I absolutely LOVE it. Teaching 20 four year olds everyday is so fun because everyday is different. One day they come in as happy as can be and the next day they might be a little sad from having a rough morning at home. I love that I get to help teach them how to manage their many different feelings.
My classroom is set up so they are learning through their play.
When entering my classroom you will find the students engaged in hands-on activities that they are interested in. They get to be independent learners exploring projects that they want. For example in the science center they can explore with magnets, look at and read books about science, or draw a picture of what they made with the magnetic building blocks. We do a lot of science experiments because I love to see the element of surprise on their faces when they see the experiment play out. Pre-k is where the FUN is. We learn, play, connect, and we are a family.
My Project
Dramatic play is a huge part of my Pre-K classroom. Research shows how important it is for students to be able to be creative in their play. In my classroom we do a ton of cooking activities that my students love to be involved in. It helps them gain knowledge on how the world works. They love to enter the dramatic play center and recreate what we have made. These items that I have picked out will really enhance my dramatic play center.
Dramatic play allows children to experiment with purpose for Literacy they've see at home.
My students will be able to recreate what they have seen their mother, grandmother, or even father cook at home. They will feel like they are cooking in a real kitchen.
