The Bare Necessities ~ Tables and Chairs for Fifth Graders.

My students need tables and chairs to replace the worn-out and lopsided desks and chairs we currently have in our classroom. Tables will allow students more flexibility to work collaboratively.

My Students

My students are engaged and enthusiastic learners. They are appreciative of all they have and do not complain about things they do not have. As fifth graders, it is imperative that they have an opportunity to work collaboratively throughout the day. In addition, they need an adequate workspace for Science activities and when utilizing technology.

These students are growing up in a high poverty district and are used to getting by with less.

They deserve the best we have to offer them.

My Project

My students need basic furniture to support their success in school. Currently, we have broken chairs and lopsided desks. When working collaboratively, students often choose to work on the floor because desk heights do not match up and it is awkward to share the space.

In order to foster collaboration and increased creativity, new tables and chairs will provide the opportunity for students to work in small groups, pairs, or independently to complete all academic tasks.

Students will have enough space to manage paper tasks as well as the use of technology devices such as Chromebooks and Kindle Fire tablets.
