My Project
I am incredibly fortunate to teach a group of students who are curious, passionate, and eager to explore the world around them. My elective class, "Pennsylvania Plants & Animals," is a unique science course that I created to provide students with an engaging way to earn a science credit while fostering a deeper connection to nature. From bookworms to athletes, my students come from all backgrounds, but they share a common enthusiasm for the outdoors. Their excitement for learning and their willingness to dive into hands-on experiences inspire me every day.
For this project, I am requesting a collection of animal skulls from species found in Pennsylvania, or similar to them.
These materials will bring an entirely new dimension to our classroom by allowing students to examine real-life specimens that they might never encounter otherwise. While my students love exploring the outdoors, many of the topics we discuss—such as animal skeletal structures and adaptations—can be difficult to fully grasp without tangible examples. These skulls will provide an interactive learning experience, helping students develop observational skills, critical thinking, and an appreciation for the incredible biodiversity of their home state.
My goal is to create an unforgettable learning experience—one where my students walk away not just with knowledge, but with a sense of wonder for the natural world. This project will help bring science to life, fostering a love for nature that will stay with them long after they leave my classroom.
With your support, "The Bare Bones" will transform the way my students learn, giving them the resources they need to explore, discover, and succeed.
