Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are creative and enthusiastic, and many come from low income homes. My students deserve every opportunity to learn all that they can, and I want to help provide that opportunity.

I teach at a Title I school where over 90 percent of students qualify for free or reduced lunch.

Art makes my students smart. It is a way to link all disciplines: Math, science, reading, and history come together in a way that makes sense through hands-on experiences. I have seen my students create wonderful and interesting things, and I want to continue to provide them with the tools to expand their horizons.

My Project

Our students are tasked with creating the visual magic that a Broadway musical requires. The children will be designing, constructing and putting together all the elements needed to showcase their hard work on stage.

From fantastical masks to dazzling costumes and visually enticing backdrops our artists will help tell the story in the school musical.

These tempera and acrylic paints as well as the multiple fabrics are some of the necessary elements students will use to bring to life our vision for this project. Other items like the Velcro, glue gun, foam, beads, and birds will be used to enhance the many aspects of our set, costumes, and accessories.
