My Project
We are requesting a butterfly nursery kit, an ant farm, and interesting books about butterflies, ants, and insects to use with lessons and activities for students to explore life cycles and learn about the concept of transformation. Having a butterfly life cycle kit in the classroom would allow my students to learn and experience the metamorphosis of butterflies! With an ant farm, our students can observe and notice the movement of ants as they work together!
These materials will help our students develop in their scientific learning and inquiry and support their language development as they are engaging in observation, exploration, and discovery.
Our students will have opportunities to engage in conversation about the changes they are observing, which will make this learning experience more meaningful. We will use the magnetic strip to engage in lessons that will support children's emergent writing skills practicing sharing the marker by writing letters and/or words and modeling how we write sentences -- all about our butterflies and ants!
We believe that having the opportunity to raise butterflies and ants in the classroom provides lots of real-world experiences and many learning opportunities for our students!
