Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Nonfiction books are such an important part of a healthy class library. They balance the "hows," "whys," and "what-ifs" so that students see how the world is interconnected. Learning about science allows kids to see how their own choices impact the environment. History shows them how societies change and evolve over time.

Nonfiction books build academic vocabulary, content knowledge, and critical thinking skills that students can apply to problem-solving situations.

Quality nonfiction books are important for a diverse class library, and unfortunately, they are usually in short supply. Our class library is woefully lacking in quality biographies, memoirs, and informational texts that are based on fact for use as mentor texts and research projects; therefore, each book in this project was chosen to address this problem.
